In 1987 Yuji Horiguchi joined Recruit Co., Ltd. He held positions at Recruit spanning accounting, finance, corporate planning, legal, and new business development, eventually managing media production for a core component of Recruit’s business as the editor for 7 of Recruit’s magazines. Yuji joined IMJ as a corporate officer in 2005 and was promoted to CFO in 2008, in which role he headed numerous projects such as M&A, business transfers, capital policy, companies and divestiture, tax planning strategies, financing plans, labor issues, stock option design, and MBO. Additionally, he contributes to the business development of numerous companies as an outside director. In 2012 he founded IMJ Investment Partners, an investment branch of the IMJ group, and as representative director he worked on the launch of incubation programs in Japan and began investment activities in Japan and Silicon Valley. Furthermore, in order to expand investment opportunities in the Southeast Asian market and achieve a more global status for the company, in Feburary 2013 he established a new headquarters in Singapore, where he currently resides and leads investment activities.
Yasuhiro Seo majored in journalism at San Francisco State University, working as a video journalist in California after graduation before joining IMJ in 2007. At IMJ he worked for top Japanese manufacturers on projects including branding, creative direction, and UX design. At IMJ Investment Partners he works on deal sourcing and provides strategic support to portfolio companies with a focus on the Southeast Asia region.
Ryu began his career at Mitsubishi Corporation in the financial department, where he was involved in interest rate, foreign exchange, and equity trading, as well as researching macroeconomic and financial trends. After being transferred to his firm’s subsidiary in Singapore, Ryu was taken by the region’s incredible economic growth and entrepreneurial dynamism. With the goal of acting as a bridge between Japanese investors and companies and Southeast Asian startups, he joined IMJ Investment partners in May of 2015. Ryu holds a B.S. in Political Science from the Law Department at Keio University and is a certified member of The Securities Analysts Association of Japan.
Nobuhito started his career at Nikko Cordial Securities (now SMBC). At Nikko, he quickly became a top-performing employee, in his first year receiving an award recognizing his excellent results in high-wealth customer acquisition and later earning awards for his firm-leading performance in revenue generation and fundraising. In 2012, Nobuhito moved to Singapore and founded his own company, Privilege Barbecues, a delivery service providing ingredients for clients hosting barbecues. Nobuhito sold the company in January 2015 and soon afterwards joined IMJ Investment Partners as Director.
David Soukhasing arrived in Indonesia in 2013 to manage the accelerator program and investment implementation of a global impact investor supporting high-growth double bottom line companies. Previously, David worked for several years at a small-cap European Private Equity firm investing in Clean Tech technologies and at an online recruitment startup based in Paris. David is also an advisor for several startup networks including Ashoka, Unltd, and Mandiri Incubator.
David holds a double Master degree in Corporate Law and Finance from Sciences Po, France.
KARISSA ADELAIDE SALIM
Karissa is joining Spiral Ventures with a background in both investment and project management. She worked for one of the agencies under the United Nations, before joining ANGIN in 2015, the largest Indonesian network of angel investors. Karissa holds a degree in business management, with an International Business concentration.
At Spiral Ventures, she works on deal sourcing, with a focus on Indonesia.
